Tade Oyerinde, Making College Accessible

In a world where education is out of reach for many, Tade Oyerinde is a shining example of how creativity can be a powerful weapon for change. As the founder of Campus, an innovative online community college platform, Oyerinde is on a mission to make quality education available to everyone, regardless of their circumstances.

 Background:

In 2018, Tade met an adjunct professor who was struggling to make ends meet—so much so that he was sleeping on the floor of his office at UCLA. This eye-opening encounter motivated Oyerinde’s  to rethink the higher education model and address the financial hardships for students and educators.

With creativity as his guiding force, he envisioned a platform that could break down the barriers to education and provide a more supportive learning environment. Oyerinde understood that traditional education often left too many people behind, and he was determined to change that narrative.

Building Campus: A Creative Solution

Before launching Campus, Oyerinde founded Campuswire, an online learning software that laid the groundwork for his future venture.

Drawing on his experiences and insights, he created Campus as a fresh alternative to traditional college. The platform offers an online associate degree in programs like Business Administration, Cosmetology and Barbering, Phlebotomy and more.  Click here to learn more:

Funding the Vision

Oyerinde’s creativity didn’t stop at the concept; he knew that he would need financial support to bring his vision to life.

"The startup's first investors were OpenAI founder Sam Altman and Discord founder Jason Citron, who understood Oyerinde's vision for campus as they both spent time in community colleges." -Habiba Katsha of Peopleofcolorintech.com

To date, he has secured over $100 million in funding, including a significant $46 million Series B investment led by General Catalyst. This backing allows Campus to continue developing its unique model and expanding its reach.

In conclusion, Tade Oyerinde is not just a founder; he’s a creative force reshaping the educational experience.  He is paving the way for a more inclusive future where quality education is within reach for all. If you're looking for inspiration in the fight against educational barriers, look no further than Tade Oyerinde and his groundbreaking work with Campus.edu
